Is it Spring yet?

I live in New York, it is mid-January and it’s 29 degrees out BUT I saw 2 American Robins today so that must mean spring is near! Yeah, not so much… contrary to popular belief that spotting a robin is a sign of spring, many spend their winters in their breeding range. During the winter months robins tend to spend more time roosting in trees so you are less likely to see them. Over the past few years I have not seen any in the winter, but for whatever reason, this year they are regular visitors to my birdfeeders. Maybe it took them a few years to find me 🙂
