I use this blog to share my photography images and just have fun. This one is going to be a bit more serious and if that’s not for you then just keep moving on…no hard feelings.
So since this is a photography blog I will add some photos and some explanation of them. These are all taken during Breast Cancer Awareness Walks.

I have lost so many photos of the many walks I have done and it is so sad because I have my memories of my daughter being wrapped up, as we called her a potato, in that silver stuff that keeps you warm. Pink tents being blown over by the wind, my first walk when I had so many ace bandages on my my legs and feet i don’t know how I crossed the finish line.
In case you didn’t pink up on the pink theme :), seriously how could you not! I have a box of pink stuff and I will use ALL of it this year in Chicago and then I will pass it along to the next generation
This year will be my final SGK 60 mile walk, (I have done 7) and I am doing it for my friend Jenny. We became colleagues 6 years ago but the moment I met her I knew we would be friends. Strange how that happens. We started out working for the same manager but within 6 months that changed. We had set up a weekly Friday meeting to catch up and as time went on and our responsibilities changed we kept those Friday meetings going. I retired last year (she was not happy ) BUT we continued our Friday calls. Last fall during one of our calls she told me about the breast cancer and the plan for surgery. And then came the call when she said she would have to do Chemo. I don’t want to depress anyone BUT what does a friend do to help when we are 750 miles apart? The only thing I could think of was walk!
Back in 2012 I did my first SGK walk, it was incredible, the comradery, the love the support was amazing and I continued. Fast forward to 2020, which was to be my final walk, that if course did not happen and at the time assumed I would not do another one. It’s a challenge and I’m getting up there in age and stamina (mostly stamina) 🙂 BUT I WILL WALK ONE MORE TIME for my friend JENNY! We need to end this damn disease and I can only do what I can with what I believe in.
If you desire, if you can, any donation to my walk would be greatly appreciated! My donation page
