Chicago

Spent 4 days in Chicago last week…1 of them sightseeing and 3 of them walking the SGK breast cancer walk…3 days 60 miles! I’ve been to Chicago a few times on business but you know how that goes, airport to office…office to hotel…hotel to airport. Never really had the opportunity to explore. What a beautiful city full of magnificent architecture.

What’s a visit to Chicago without an early morning shot of “The Bean” aka “Cloud Gate” in Millennium Park. This was taken before sunrise and as you can still there were others there just as early!

Jay Pritzker Pavllion

The Jay Pritzker Pavilion is located right next to the bean, ultra modern design and very cool looking.

Also located within Millennium Park is this structure, I don’t know if it has a name but if you are in the park you can’t miss it. It is a fountain, splashing pond, and if you time it right this lady will splash water on you 🙂

The Rookery, an historically significant building in the financial district of Chicago. Originally built in 1888, it’s interior lobby was renovated in 1905 by Frank Lloyd Wright. The spiral staircase is infamous and beautiful.

The Museum of Contemporary Art also has a spiral staircase titled “The Leaf”.

The Chicago Cultural Center, once a public library is a must visit when you are in Chicago. It has 2 large domed ceilings, endless mosaic’s and is breathtakingly beautiful

Should you get hungry/thirsty as you explore this city, I highly recommend grabbing a drink and some food at The Elephant & Castle restaurant! Atmosphere was great as was the food. It was in the high 80’s when we walked so gotta say the Guinness was also great LOL
