I have a “bird shooting gallery” set up in my yard with visibility from my office. I have counted 42 species in my yard, most of them are visitors year round but I always look forward to May when some of my favorites show up. I am always amazed when the Baltimore Orioles and Rose Breasted Grosbeak show up pretty much on the same day every year! This year the orioles showed up a day early, April 30th and just like clockwork the Grosbeak shows up within 2 days after. The next to arrive, which is usually a week after these 2, are the hummingbirds. Now I know spring has finally arrived on Long Island!
Hello. Nice to meet you, well virtually anyway. I love being outdoors whenever possible, I enjoy making photographs, be it a flower, a landscape or some street photography...it is my escape and my right brain nurturing.
The purpose of this blog is to share with you moments I have enjoyed, places I have visited and images that I hope will bring a smile to your day. Feel free to comment, sign up for email notification of my posts or email me. Thank you for visiting

Judy I love birds and those are beautiful pictures!!1 Thank you for sharing them!
All these years of birding and I never saw a White-Crowned Sparrow. Last night as I was getting ready to shower I looked out my window and there was one at the feeder happily eating some corn that was on the ground. Sure would have loved to taken a photo of it but that would be hard to do at that time. lol

Doesn’t that just figure 🙂 Yeah they love to show up when you just can’t get to the camera fast enough!
